International Media Foundation, an International Charity,
has organised the 2003 International Media Conference on 10 February 2003 at
India International Centre, New Delhi with the theme Women Empowerment
through Media. Many eminent media personality from Indian and Abroad in
general and Delhi in particular have participated in the conference. The
presidentship of the conference has been carried out by the world renowned
Environmental Scientist and the President of the World Institution Building
Programe, Prof. Priya Ranjan Trivedi, Shri M S Jasra, the Vice Chairman of
Appu Ghar was the Chief Guest, Shri Rajesh Kumar, the Chairman of the Public
Relation Society of India (Delhi Chapter), the Managing Director of the
Airport Authority of India Shri T. Premnath, Dr. Vijay Kaira, Principal Smt.
Beena Rani, Advocate Smt. Usha Kaushik, the States Editor Hindustan Times,
Ms. Kumkum Chadha were the Guests of Honour.
While welcoming the guests and invitees Shri G D Goyal,
the former Editor, Bledge and the Founder Director of IMF deliver the
Keynote Address and brief introduction about the foundation. Shri Goyal said
that there should be a common platform or a bridge where each and every
journalists and media person can share and exchange their views and ideas
for the betterment of the media.
He opined, IMF is trying to facilitate and acknowledge
the work being done by the journalist for the benefit of the public. In this
context, on 29 December 2002, IMF has organised a meeting where more than 50
journalists were participated.
During the function the prestigious Shakuntala Award has
been conferred on Ms. Kukkum Chadha and 21 women have been honoured and
conferred international felicitation for their wonderful work for the women
empowerment.
Later on 8 women have also been honoured for their
outstanding work for the betterment of the women in their respective fields.
In this context, the International Media Award has been constituted upon Mr.
Avinash Chiranjeev, an Environmental Journalist of Environment Tomorrow for
his excellent work for women empowerment through media.
While delivering the Vote of Thanks, Shri Vijay Kumar
Madhu, Chairman, Reception Committee and also an Editor of Veer Arjun Dianik
said that everyone should feel free in meeting to the members of IMF for any
guides and suggestions in the future.
The 2003 International Media Conference was co-sponsored
by Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India and Airport Authority of India
(AAI) and inspired by World Institution Building Programme (WIBP).
